Which CELPIP Test Should I Take For Real Estate?
Under the Real Estate Services Act, RECBC or The Real Estate Council of British Columbia safeguards the public. They are in charge of ensuring that consumers engaging with licenced real estate professionals are safeguarded against fraudulent behaviour. They also build public trust by establishing and enforcing fair standards for real estate agents.
RECBC emphasises and recognizes the importance of strong language skills for real estate agents. Hence, all new licence candidates in British Columbia are required to take the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program General (CELPIP-General) test to verify their English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
The English Language Proficiency Requirement (ELPR) must be met prior to exam registration; however, if licensure is your goal, we strongly advise you to meet the ELPR before enrolling in a course.
The Real Estate Services Act’s Rules for Real Estate Trading Services, Rental Property Management, and Strata Management Licensing require that students must score a Level 7 or above on each of the CELPIP-General test’s four components (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) to be eligible to take the real estate licencing exam. Scores from several test attempts cannot be combined on the same test score report.
If an applicant meets the following criteria, he or she is said to have met the ELPR:
1. The applicant has earned a bachelor’s degree from a reputable university, college, or technical institute where English is the major language of instruction in a bachelor’s degree or higher degree programme.
2. He/she has been licenced to provide real estate services in another Canadian jurisdiction that has English language requirements and has met those requirements.
Students are obliged to take the CELPIP-G test if none of the preceding apply. It is the responsibility of the students to register for this test and pay the appropriate test cost. You can browse or be told about the CELPIP-G Test Schedule in your area if you are required to take the CELPIP-G test.
